AMU resident doctor bags top prize at the 15th Annual Conference of Indian Hernia Society

Dr Mohd Shariq Enam, a postgraduate student from the Department of General Surgery, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University bagged the first prize in paper presentation at the 15th Annual Conference of Indian Hernia Society (IHSCON-2023), organized by the Department of General Surgery, IMS, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi.

He presented a paper under the oral paper presentation category on “Use of Polypropylene Mesh in Complicated Emergency Inguinal Hernia Surgery: Our experience”.

The study has been done by Dr. Shahbaz Habib Faridi, Assistant Professor, Department of General Surgery, AMU.

In another such achievement, a PG Resident Doctor, Dr Firdaus Husain from the department, secured 2nd position in the finals of the national quiz competition at Rectal Cancer Management Update 2023, held at BLK-Max Hospital, New Delhi. He scored well on the quiz, surpassing MCh and Post-MCh surgeons, who also participated in the quiz on the management and advancements in carcinoma rectum.

Prof. Afzal Anees, Chairman of the department, congratulated the above students on their remarkable success.
