He said that researchers can access all published census tables and data from the 1991, 2001, and 2011 surveys in digital format at these research workstations. Data users can readily receive various census-related data as well as micro-data for their studies and research from these workstations.

He said that by giving academics and students at AMU access to census microdata for methodical research, this workstation helps them understand the socioeconomic-demographic background of India’s population.

Mr. Mohammad Imran stressed that the neighbouring states as well as the Aligarh district can benefit from the “Census Data Research Workstation” set up at AMU. This is an unusual attempt to improve study on social, economic, and demographic themes by providing instructors, scientists, researchers, students, and other data users with easy access to micro-level census data.

Based on census data, the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India maintains an official website, censusindia.gov.in, through which users can access over 30,000 tables and 8,000 books, maps, summaries, articles, etc. at the workstation.
