AMU Women’s Volleyball Team: Under the auspices of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the Directorate of Physical Education & Sports, University of Kashmir, Srinagar, hosted the North Zone Intervarsity Tournament 2023, where the women’s volleyball team from Aligarh Muslim University advanced to the quarterfinals. The competition took place in 2023 between October 30 and November 2.
AMU’s first victory in the 42 team event came in the pool stages, where it emerged victorious in an exciting five-set encounter against Raja Mahendra Singh Pratap University, Aligarh.
The AMU squad defeated Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi, in four sets in the following game.
The AMU squad played the host University of Kashmir in the pre-quarterfinals, and it was a huge success, with cheers resounding throughout the stadium and a large following for both sides. University of Kashmir was defeated by AMU with scores of 25-15, 19-25, 25-22, and 25-15.
With this victory, AMU advanced to face JNDU in the quarterfinals. Though they fell to JNDU, the AMU team did not come away empty-handed. AMU secured a legendary slot by finishing among the top 8 teams in the event out of 42 teams.
Throughout the competition, the team’s captain Anamata Qasim,p vice captain Farheen Khan, Saima Khan, Aafreen Naim, Azra Nazim, and Aaliyah Iqbal all displayed exceptional play.

The squad members received praise for their incredible performance from Prof. Naima Khatoon, Principal of Women’s College, and Dr. Nazia Khan, Assistant Director of Sports Women’s College. The squad members were commended for their resiliency by Dr. Jameel, President of the Gymkhana Club.
