Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School Introduces New Master of Science in Management Degree

With the goal of giving them a competitive edge in the job market, our MSM programme concentrates on students with little to no work experience.

New Master of Science in Management Degree: The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University now accepts applications and enrollment for its full-time, two-semester Master of Science in Management (MSM) program(opens in new window). Starting in the autumn of 2024, this 10-month programme will allow students to focus on finance, operations, or marketing.

Kate Barraclough, associate dean of masters programmes and teaching professor of finance at the Tepper School, said, “With strategic planning and collaboration at Tepper and throughout the university, we designed a unique curriculum that helps ambitious, high-potential students prepare for successful careers in business.” To draw a wide set of intelligent students who are motivated to succeed and study, we wish to employ the same teaching methodology that helped Tepper become a top school for higher education.

The adaptability of the programme is a noteworthy aspect. Students can customise their curriculum to focus on their particular areas of interest with a focus on business foundations, analytics, and behavioural skills – all of which are crucial for success in today’s complicated business landscape. Students are permitted to choose electives outside of their area of specialisation in addition to the core courses, promoting a well-rounded educational experience.

High-potential candidates with a range of undergraduate degrees, a quantitative skill set, and little work experience are eligible for the new MSM programme. These students might want to change their job path, upskill, or need new abilities to complement their undergraduate study.

Willem-Jan van Hoeve, senior associate dean of education at the Tepper School and Carnegie Bosch Professor of Operations Research, stated that the school aims to give students the finest education possible at various points in their careers. With the goal of giving them a competitive edge in the job market, our MSM programme concentrates on students with little to no work experience. Additionally, if students decide to enrol in an MBA programme in the future, it prepares them for it.

The programme will begin accepting applications for its first batch of students in the fall of 2023 after officially launching on Sept. 5. Four rounds of admission will be used in the program’s typical recruitment cycle, and the first cohort will start classes in August 2024 and graduate in May 2025.
