Following an improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI), this decision was made. Schools were closed for the winter vacation, which was originally scheduled to run from November 9 to November 18. This was because Delhi had extremely poor air quality.
However, schools are set to reopen because the AQI is showing positive signs and the Sub-Committee on GRAP has revoked the previous order that activated Stage IV of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).
The directive states that for the next week following its issuing, there will be no morning assemblies or outdoor sporting events.
According to Himanshu Gupta, the director of education, this choice was made using the Administrator’s authority granted by Rule 43 of the Delhi School Education Rules, 1973, which was assigned to the director of education.
All school administrators are required by the order to notify parents well in advance of the return of in-person classes and the temporary suspension of specific activities.
