Delhi University announces three rounds of undergraduate seat allocation

Delhi University announces three rounds of undergraduate seat allocation: The Delhi University has announced that, for the upcoming academic year, it will conduct three phases of seat allocation for undergraduate programmes. The announcement of the first allocation list is scheduled for August 1. The first classes for these programmes will begin on August 16. The university has already began the second phase of the undergraduate admissions procedure, in which applicants select their preferred programmes and colleges. In addition, a correction window has been opened for candidates who have completed Phase I and wish to modify certain fields.

Admission to Delhi University is administered via the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) utilising Common University Entrance Test scores. For the admissions procedure, the university has introduced a CSAS portal. Phase-II of the CSAS has commenced, and candidates who have completed Phase-I must log in to their dashboard to select their preferred programme and institution combinations, assuming they meet the eligibility requirements.

Candidates who have not yet registered on the CSAS portal have until July 24 at 4:59 p.m. to do so, as the university has decided to maintain both phases until that time. After the deadline, candidates’ preferences will be automatically sealed. After Phase II on July 29, a simulated list will be released, and candidates will have until July 30 to modify their preferences.

On August 1, the first CSAS allocation list will be released, and candidates will have until August 4 to approve the list. The colleges will then verify and approve the applications by August 7; the deadline for online payment of fees for pupils whose names appear on the first list is July 6. After the first round of CSAS allocation and admission, the second round will commence on August 7 with the display of available seats.
The second CSAS allocation list will be released on August 10 following a one-day window for candidates to reorder their highest preferences. Candidates must accept the allocated seat by the 13th of August, and colleges must verify their applications by the 14th. The deadline for online payment is August 15, and the first day of classes is August 16.

The third round of seat allocation will take place between August 17 and August 26. In addition, the university has provided a correction window for candidates who have completed Phase I and wish to make adjustments to specific fields. Certain information, including name, photograph, signature, gender, registered email-id, mobile number, caste, and supernumerary quota, will not be editable or modifiable.
Through the CSAS portal, the admissions process for roughly 71,000 seats in 78 undergraduate programmes for the academic year 2023-24 is being managed. Candidates must check in to their CSAS dashboard before proceeding to “Preference Selection.” They can select and add their preferences, and the tab for available preferences will list all of the possible programme and institution combinations. The Advanced Filter option allows candidates to filter colleges and programmes. The selection order will determine the preference order, and candidates can reorder their preferences using icons. The Selected Preferences tab will reflect the ultimate order of saved preferences.

Once candidates are satisfied with the order of their preferences, they must save their modifications before submitting their preferences. The candidates’ stored preferences will determine their admission and placement. The university advises applicants to select the utmost number of preferences for programmes in which they are willing to enrol. In Phase II, applicants must correlate the subjects they studied in Class 12 to those for which they sat the CUET-2023. If the subject covered in Class 12 was not included in the CUET curriculum, a similar or closely related subject will be considered. The candidate is solely responsible for providing accurate subject mapping.

After the Phase-II deadline, the university has prohibited the addition, deletion, and modification of programmes and colleges. For admission, the university will calculate “Program-Group merit scores” using the subject-based “Normalised Score” provided by the National Testing Agency.
