GGS Indraprastha University honours graduates and achievements: Recently, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University held its 15th Convocation Ceremony in recognition of its graduates’ outstanding achievements. The event, which was presided over by Mr. Vinay Kumar Saxena, Lt. Governor of Delhi and Chancellor of the University, was a momentous occasion attended by distinguished visitors, faculty, and proud family members.
At the ceremony, a total of 28,195 degrees were awarded, including 24,181 bachelor’s degrees, 3,831 master’s degrees, 32 MPhil degrees, and 149 doctoral degrees. These degrees represent the culmination of years of effort, commitment, and intellectual pursuit on the part of the graduates.

The highlight of the convocation was the awarding of 87 gold medallions to students who excelled in both undergraduate and graduate programmes. Mayank Garg was awarded the prestigious Dr. BP Joshi Gold Medal, and Chetna Garg was presented with the Siddharth Khitoliya Award. The medals were awarded to 54 female and 32 male students, representing the University’s dedication to gender equality and academic excellence.
Mr. Saxena expressed his delight at the University’s role in transforming the educational landscape during his address. He praised the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, which offers students a flexible entrance and exit system in an effort to reduce the dropout rate. Additionally, the Chancellor called for increased community involvement, urging students and faculty to participate in initiatives that contribute to the local community’s growth and cultivate a sense of belonging.
Mr. Amitabh Kant, the ceremony’s Chief Guest, delivered an inspiring commencement address. He emphasised India’s extraordinary development over the past eight years and the opportunities presented by technology and digital disruption. Kant urged the graduates to adopt optimism, hope, and a positive outlook as they contribute to India’s prosperity.
Ms. Atishi Marlena, the honoured guest, spoke about the values instilled through education. She reminded the graduating students of their obligation to the disadvantaged and implored them to realise the ambition of making India the leading nation in the world.
In his remarks, Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Mahesh Verma praised the graduating students and enumerated the University’s major accomplishments for the academic year.
As Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University celebrates its 25th year of existence, it anticipates expanding its footprint and providing the next generation of students with even more educational opportunities.
