CUET UG 2022: University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar said on Tuesday that at least 98 per cent candidates who have appeared for the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) will be allotted exam centers in the city of their choice.

The UGC chief’s remarks come at a time when students have complained about late issuance of admit cards for the exams. Jagdish Kumar told PTI, “For security reasons and to avoid malpractices in the examination, the admit cards were issued four days before the examination. Students should not be disturbed”

“At least 98 per cent candidates will get exam centers in the city of their choice and those who do not find the allotted center suitable can approach the National Testing Agency (NTA), which will look into their request,” he said.

It is noteworthy that the National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) or CUET-UG from July 15 to August 10. More than 11 lakh students have registered for the first edition of CUET. The admit card for the examination was issued by NTA on Monday.

Kumar said that a large number of candidates registered for the examination to be conducted in 500 cities of the country. This is a massive task and as NTA is a professional body conducting exam, students should not worry. It may be noted that Kumar had announced in March that CUET marks and not class 12th marks would be necessary for admission to 45 central universities. Central Universities may fix minimum eligibility criteria. He also made it clear that the students of the state board will not suffer from the new system.
