Jamia Hamdard appoints Dr Sikandar as new registrar: According to a university announcement, Dr. M. A. Sikandar has been appointed as the new Registrar of Jamia Hamdard (Deemed to be University). On July 10, 2023, he formally assumed the position, succeeding Mr. S. S. Akhtar, the previous Officiating Registrar and Controller of Examinations.

Dr. Sikandar has an extensive background in university administration. He previously held the position of Registrar at MANUU and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar University Delhi. In addition, between 2011 and 2015, he held the position of Director at the National Book Trust, India (Ministry of Education) for four years. He also served at the University of Delhi for over a decade, holding administrative positions such as Assistant Registrar, Planning Officer, Deputy Registrar, and Joint Registrar. Moreover, he briefly served as MDI Gurgaon’s Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in 2005.
Dr. Sikandar possesses a Master of Business Administration in Human Resources, a Master of Arts in Labour Studies, and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Delhi. Jamia Millia Islamia awarded him his doctorate in Commerce and Business. Before joining Jamia Hamdard, he was a professor of management at MANUU Hyderabad. He has published more than thirty research papers in national and international journals and has represented the National Book Trust of India and the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) at international book exhibitions in over twenty countries.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor (Dr.) M. Afshar Alam, and the Chancellor, Janab Hammad Ahmed, congratulated Dr. M. A. Sikandar on his appointment to the position of Registrar.
