Karnataka cancels SSLC and PUC supplementary exams: The government of Karnataka has cancelled the SSLC and PUC Supplemental Examinations beginning in the academic year 2023–2024. Students will now take three annual exams per the new exam schedule.
The decision to cancel the additional exams was made to alleviate the tension associated with examinations. The previous system permitted students to take a supplementary exam if they did not pass the primary examination. However, the new system will permit students to keep their highest scores from each of the three assessments. This will increase their opportunities for academic success.

Karnataka School Examination and Assessment Board (KSEAB) will administer the three annual examinations. The board will establish the standards for the new system and ensure that all exams have the same content and level of difficulty.
Additionally, students will have the option to choose the subject with the highest grade among the three attempts. They will have greater control over their academic performance as a result.
Additionally, students who enrol in their next course after the first month will be required to complete a bridge course. These transition courses will be provided by Pre-University Colleges (PUCs) or degree-granting institutions. These seminars are designed to facilitate students’ transition into higher education.
The elimination of the SSLC and PUC Supplementary Examinations is a significant educational reform in Karnataka. It is anticipated that this will lessen the anxiety associated with exams and increase students’ chances of success.
The new exam schedule is still being finalised, and additional information will be forthcoming. The government has stated, however, that the alterations will be phased in beginning with the 2023–2024 academic year.
