NCERT Drops Chapters on Democracy: The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) announced on Thursday that chapters on Periodic Classification of Elements, Democracy, political parties (full page), and Challenges to Democracy have been removed from class 10 textbooks “to reduce the content load on students in light of the Covid pandemic.”

Students can still learn about these topics, but only if they choose the relevant class in 11th and 12th grade.

In addition, the NCERT recently determined to eliminate the Theory of Biological Evolution from the curriculum for class 10. The action was extensively criticised by specialists.

NCERT eliminates references to the Khalistan demand in Class 12 political science textbooks

The NCERT stated that the decision to eliminate chapters was made because it was “crucial to lighten the burden on students in view of the coronavirus epidemic.

NCERT cites “difficulty level, overlapping content, and content that is irrelevant in the present context” as justifications for removing these chapters from the curriculum.

Cookies help Us to identify information relating Your activities and to retain information relating to Your preferences and history on the App.
