Punjab extends school closure till July 16: The Punjab government has extended the closure of schools in the state until July 16, 2023, as announced in NEW DELHI. The reopening of schools will occur on July 17, 2023.

Punjab extends school closure till July 16 due to heavy rains

The decision was made in light of the torrential rainfall that has lashed the state in recent days. Flooding and landslides have been among the pervasive effects of the rains.

According to the government, extending the school closure is necessary to guarantee the safety of students and teachers.

The state government has also announced that on July 16, 2023, all government and private offices will be closed.

The IMD has predicted that the state will experience more precipitation in the coming days. The government has advised citizens to exercise caution and avoid superfluous travel.

Previously, schools in the state were halted from July 11 to 13 due to persistent rainfall and flooding. The administration of Chandigarh has advised public and private offices to contemplate closing temporarily.
