Summer vacation up to Class 8 extended till June 21 in Jharkhand: Due to the ongoing heatwave, the Jharkhand government has again extended the school closure for pupils in Grades 1 through 8 until June 21. This is the third time this year that the summer vacation has been extended. The government had previously declared the extension of summer vacation on June 11 and 14. The primary and secondary institutions were scheduled to open for students on June 19. K Ravi Kumar, secretary of the school education and literacy department, issued an order mandating that pupils in Classes 9 through 12 attend school from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

Summer vacation up to Class 8 extended till June 21 in Jharkhand:

“All categories of government, non-government, aided/non-aided (including minority) and all private schools operating in the state will remain closed from June 19 to June 21 for classes from KG to 8, while classes for 9 to 12 will be conducted from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.,” the order stated.

In Jharkhand, the greatest temperature continues to fluctuate between 41 and 46 degrees Celsius, indicating the persistence of a heat wave.

Abhishek Anand, head of the Ranchi Meteorological Centre, stated that a significant change in optimum temperature over the next few days is unlikely.
“The temperature could drop by two to three degrees Celsius after that,” he said.

Regarding the progress of the monsoon, he stated, “During the next two to three days, conditions are favourable for the southwest monsoon to advance over parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Bihar.”

The monsoon typically descends in Jharkhand between 10 and 15 June.

It reached the vicinity of the Sahibganj district in the northeast of the state on June 12, but “did not proceed further because conditions were unfavourable.”
