Texas Instruments Launches Mentoring Program: Texas Instruments (TI) is conducting the second year of the WiSH (Women in Semiconductors and Hardware) initiative, a mentoring programme for female engineering students in India lasting one month.

The programme is intended to encourage more women to pursue core engineering occupations by exposing them to the semiconductor and hardware industries and providing mentoring. This year, TI is hosting 100 students from 22 colleges, which is more than twice as many as in 2022. This year, TI received 950 applications for the WiSH programme.
Throughout the month-long programme, students participate in simulation projects, lab visits, technical discussions, and networking sessions with TI executives. During the final week, students also visit the TI campus in Bengaluru.
“In India, only 14% of women are employed in STEM fields, resulting in a significant gender disparity. Santhosh Kumar, president and managing director of Texas Instruments India, said, “The WiSH programme aims to encourage more women to pursue careers in the semiconductor industry, to challenge and transform the status quo.”
“By encouraging female students, earlier in their professional journey, to connect with science and technology and by providing them with hands-on experiences, we hope that they will develop an aptitude for semiconductors and consider a career in engineering and technology,” Kumar added.
