Teachers' Day 2022: UGC to launch new fellowships, research grants | Education

The University Grants Commission (UGC) introduced “CU- Chayan” – a unified recruitment portal designed and developed specifically for faculty recruitments in central institutions. The portal seeks to meet the needs of all parties involved in the recruitment process by providing a centralised listing of vacancies, advertisements, and job openings across all of the nation’s central universities.

This portal was developed by the commission to foster a conducive environment for both universities and applicants, with universities controlling all recruitment stages independently. It provides a centralised listing of vacancies, advertisements, and job openings for all Central Universities and entirely digitises the recruitment process, from application to screening, with alerts for all portal users.

Single applicant login for applying to any/all central universities, real-time application tracking, a personalised dashboard for each applicant, an admin dashboard for each university/department, online feedback/reference for applicants, and real-time analysis and application insights are some of the portal’s key features.

According to M. Jagadesh Kumar, chairman of the University Grants Commission (UGC), “the platform offers a variety of features for applicants, including a consolidated listing of job openings across all participating institutions… The applicant can also browse for jobs using a variety of filters, such as university name, location, designation, category, subject, type of employment, level of education, etc.
From this singular portal, applicants will be able to access the faculty application process of any CU. They can continue to update their application using the personalised dashboard for each applicant, and they can transfer their application to any CU with advertised faculty positions. Additionally, registered applicants will receive an automated email informing them of newly advertised vacancies by any CU. This portal is exclusive to faculty openings at all CUs.

“Recruitments that have already been advertised will continue without using this portal. “However, all future hirings will occur on this portal,” said Kumar.

All future applications must be submitted exclusively through the CU-Chayan portal. All CUs must deactivate their respective recruitment portals.

However, universities should maintain the current practise of placing brief advertisements in newspapers and providing a link to the CU-Chayan portal to view the full advertisement.
