World Diabetes Day observed: At the Aligarh Muslim University, faculty members of Unani Medicine and medical students participated in a range of awareness campaigns aimed at educating the public about ways to reduce their risk of developing diabetes on World Diabetes Day.
Under the direction of Prof. Farha Azmi, Principal of the Nursing College, the nursing students and faculty members of Aligarh Muslim University’s College of Nursing convened to commemorate World Diabetes Day at the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, J.N. Medical College.
The director of the Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Dr. Hamid Ashraf, went into detail on the preventative strategies to fight diabetes, such as adopting a balanced diet, leading a calm and stress-free lifestyle, engaging in frequent outdoor physical activity, and minimising screen time on computers, TVs, and mobile devices.
Ms. Hooma Ruhi gave a vote of gratitude and emphasised the need of starting community awareness initiatives.

The fourth semester B.Sc. Nursing students planned a “Nukkad Natak” to draw attention to the year’s theme, “Access to Diabetes Care.”
In honour of World Diabetes Day, the Academic and Co-Curricular Committee at the Faculty of Unani Medicine held an oral presentation competition for postgraduate students.
Prof. Ubaidullah Khan, dean of the Faculty of Unani Medicine, emphasised to students how crucial it is to improve their communication skills and give them up-to-date information on advancements in the relevant sector.
The principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Prof. Badrudduja Khan, emphasised the critical role that lifestyle modification has in preventing or mitigating the effects of diseases such as diabetes.
Prior to greeting the speakers, Prof. Asia Sultana, Chairperson of the Academic and Co-Curricular Committee, gave an update on forthcoming activities that the committee has organised for postgraduate students in an effort to foster their innovative thinking and creativity while also raising their employability quotient.
While other participants received certificates of participation, the champions of the oral presentation event were presented with prizes.
