Best Animated Film At BAFTA Awards: Best Animated Film at the BAFTAs, “The Boy and the Heron” by Hayao Miyazaki defeated films such as “Elemental,” “Chicken Run: The Dawn of the Nugget,” and “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”

The first anime to win or be nominated since the award committee was founded in 2006. The committee had considered “The Super Mario Bros.” for nomination. The movie” did not make the final cut.

Additionally, Takeshi Honda, the film’s animation director, and Hayao Miyazaki secured the Annie Award for Best Character Animation.

The film had previously won the Golden Globe for Best Animated Motion Picture and several other accolades, indicating that it has been a commercial success.

Additionally, “The Boy and the Heron” was a commercial success in theaters, grossing over $61.4 million in Japan alone. A rare feat for an original anime film, even its opening weekend surpassed all expectations.
