‘Outer Banks’ Season 4 Teaser
During a February fan event for Poguelandia, the cast announced the show’s renewal for a fourth season, preceding Outer Banks season 3.
“The Pogues are in the midst of a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, and as Season 4 of ‘Outer Banks’ unfolds, we’ll be able to map out additional plot twists.” The series co-creators, executive producers, and showrunners Jonas Pate, Josh Pate, and Shannon Burke expressed their gratitude to Netflix, the performers, and the viewers in a statement to Variety at the time.
Following their trip to El Dorado, the season 3 finale established the new season by depicting the Pogues being recognized for their discoveries upon their return home 18 months later.
In the season 3 finale, they were enlisted to go on another adventure concentrated on Edward Teach, a.k.a. the infamous pirate Blackbeard.
Though Netflix has not announced an official storyline for the upcoming season, a number of cast members have discussed what their characters can expect with PEOPLE. Daviss expressed interest in observing how the Pogues’ relationships evolve.
“They must be treasure hunters, so how does that factor into everything?” he quipped. “What is his current relationship like with JJ and Kiara? Is this dissimilar? Does he have a distinct relationship with John B? A year has passed, and they are all still friends. I’m therefore curious to see what all these interpersonal dynamics entail.”
According to Bailey, the treasure search appears to be a “fresh start” for the program. “[Fans] should not interpret it as the end of an era, but rather as a button summarizing seasons 1 and 2,” she quipped.
“It can really go anywhere,” she said of the upcoming season, production of which will commence in Charleston this summer. I believe we have a relatively clear slate.
Josh Pate, the show’s co-creator, has also indicated that the upcoming season will have numerous flashbacks to fill in the gaps produced by the 18-month time leap. “We deemed it necessary to remove them from school,” he explained to Tudum.
“We consider the first three [seasons] to be a trilogy, and now we’re beginning [another form of] trilogy. We had to simply empty the decks. There will be new antagonists, a new treasure quest, and a new life circumstance.”
