From 1970s and 1980s films like The Shining and Carrie to the current CBS science fiction television series Under the Dome, Stephen King’s incomparable effect on film and television is impossible to ignore. Pet Sematary is another one of his novels that has seen numerous book-to-movie adaptations throughout the years. What Is the Story of “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines”?

The events shown in the 2019 film Pet Sematary are explained in Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, which serves as a prequel. The film, which takes place in 1969 (50 years before the events of Pet Sematary), is focused on a young Jud Crandall. Jud’s dream is straightforward as a young man just beginning to spread his wings: to permanently leave his hometown of Ludlow. However, the evil that dwells in Ludlow’s cursed grounds soon emerges, and Jud and his friends find themselves up against a powerful, age-old force that has the ability to wipe out everything. Audiences can anticipate learning the precise reason why Jud spent a lifetime imprisoned in the town he first yearned to leave when they see Bloodlines, which is expected to dramatically build upon the mythos of Pet Sematary.

Official Synopsis:

When Jud Crandall was a young boy in 1969, he had aspirations of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine, behind. However, he soon found sinister secrets hidden there and was forced to face a dark family past that would bind him to Ludlow for the rest of his life. Jud and his boyhood pals must work together to battle an ancient evil that has possessed Ludlow since its founding and, if discovered, has the capability of obliterating all in its path. Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, a horrifying prequel and the unwritten tale of why sometimes being dead is preferable, is based on the untold chapter of Stephen King’s terrifying book Pet Sematary.

The role of the young Jud Crandall is played by Jackson White (Mrs. Fletcher). The Gifted’s Natalie Alyn Lind plays an unnamed lead role. We posit that Lind will portray the young Norma, Jud’s sad love interest throughout the entire film.

As a director, Lindsey Beer (Sierra Burgess Is a Loser) makes her debut with Pet Sematary: Bloodlines.Beer wrote Bloodlines with Nightflyers co-writer Jeff Buhler. Producers include Mark Vahradian (Infinite), Natalia Maymi (Apartment 7A), Vanessa Mendoza (San Andreas), Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers), and Martha Fernandez (Alert). The film’s cinematographer is Benjamin Kirk Nielsen (Watcher), and Brandon Roberts (A Quiet Place) provided the score.

How Did “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” Come to Be?

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is a precursor to the 2019 film Pet Sematary, as previously announced. Pet Sematary, starring Jason Clarke and Amy Seimetz as Louis and Rachel Creed, is mostly on the couple’s transition with their two children from the busy city of Boston to the sleepy town of Ludlow, Maine. The family is quickly alarmed by the strange happenings in the town. Lifelong resident Jud Crandall (John Lithgow) introduces Rachel and her eight-year-old daughter Ellie to the pet cemetery, which is only a short distance from their home. Meanwhile, Dr. Louis experiences an unexplainable encounter on his first day at the campus hospital that permanently ends his scepticism. It’s probably a good idea to see Pet Sematary on Paramount+ before watching Bloodlines because it’s dark, sorrowful, and frightful.
