Star Trek: Picard Season 4: The third season of Star Trek: Picard was a huge success because it reunited the adored cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation, ostensibly for one last adventure. However, could the program be renewed for a fourth season?
The show’s first two seasons divided audiences due to a predominantly new cast and stories that largely excluded Starfleet. The third season of Picard, however, has been lauded as a return to form, as it unravels an epic space saga with profoundly personal repercussions for Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart).
The Star Trek: The Next Generation cast’s appearance in the third season of Star Trek: Picard has likely garnered the most attention. Jonathan Frakes, who portrays Captain Will Riker with a looser, funnier, and more melancholy demeanor than he did on TNG, stands out among the actors as being in outstanding condition.
There was a plan for the third season of Star Trek: Picard to be the final story for the TNG cast, but is there a possibility that Jean-Luc and the others will return for one more adventure?
Is Star Trek Making Picard Season 4?

There are no intentions to produce a fourth season of Star Trek: Picard, despite the popularity of the third season. Patrick Stewart, 82, has acknowledged that the stress of a modern television production schedule during the show’s three seasons had a negative effect on his health.
Stewart also admitted that he found Star Trek: The Next Generation’s final seasons difficult to witness, which is why he and the producers always intended for Star Trek: Picard to have three seasons. The season 3 finale, which featured a genial poker game, echoed the cherished TNG series finale, “All Good Things.”
Will Picard Appear In A Film Or On Star Trek: Legacy?
While a fourth season of Star Trek: Picard seems unlikely, many cast members of Star Trek: The Next Generation have expressed interest in returning to the series in some capacity. Even Patrick Stewart has expressed interest in creating a final film with the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) assumes command of the newly renamed USS Enterprise-G in the season three finale of Picard, “The Last Generation,” establishing the spinoff Star Trek: Legacy. If the narrative of Legacy is compelling, Patrick Stewart and the rest of the TNG cast have expressed their willingness to reprise their roles or make guest appearances.

Status of Actors for Season Four of Picard in TNG
The fact that the entire ensemble of Star Trek: The Next Generation survived was one of the pleasant surprises in Star Trek: Picard’s season 3 finale, “The Last Generation.” Additionally, they all find themselves in circumstances that make it quite simple for them to return for a prospective fourth season of Picard or a new Star Trek: Legacy series.
In addition to returning as Riker, Jonathan Frakes has stated that he would like to contribute to the construction of any future Star Trek series. Visiting Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) and Lieutenant Sidney La Forge (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut) aboard the USS Enterprise-G on a regular basis also seems obvious.
Possible Release Date for Season Four of Star Trek: The Next Generation
It is unlikely that Star Trek: Picard will return for a fourth season for many years. With the official renewal of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for seasons 2 and 3, Paramount has a reasonably complete slate of Star Trek programming in the works.
Starfleet Academy is slated to commence production in 2024, and the film Section 31 starring Michelle Yeoh is currently in production.
Due to production schedules and Paramount’s recently altered release strategy emphasizing event films and miniseries, it is unlikely that either Star Trek: Picard season 4 or the first season of Star Trek: Legacy would premiere prior to 2025.
The third season of Star Trek: Picard is now available on Paramount+.
