The Tourist season 2: Exploring the shooting location, and more details

The Tourist Season 2 returns in 2024, featuring a new location and familiar characters, with Jamie Dornan's character Elliot Stanley undergoing amnesia as his past resurfaces.

The Tourist season 2: The Tourist, the most viewed drama on the BBC in 2022, will return in 2024 with a completely new location and some well-known characters. In the first season of the six-part thriller, Jamie Dornan’s character, Irish car accident victim Elliot Stanley, had amnesia, with his past gradually catching up with his present.

The Australian Outback, where the series is situated, is arid, dusty, and hot place. This environment is essential to the storyline and the series’ overall tone. This time, authors and executive producers Jack and Harry Williams chose a completely new scene as Elliott’s backstory is exposed.

The second season of The Tourist premiered on BBC One on New Year’s Day at 9 PM, precisely two years after the conclusion of the first series. Beginning on Tuesday, January 2, at 9:00 PM, the second episode of BBC One will run every Sunday from January 7 to January 28, at 9:00 PM.The complete season is presently accessible on BBC iPlayer.

The Tourist’s second season concluded everything with a tonne of exciting events and surprises. Even at the very end, there was an unexpected twist that may have confused some viewers as to why specific events transpired.

The Tourist season 2 Shooting Location

The action has shifted from Australia to Ireland as Elliot is trying to understand more about his background with the help of his girlfriend Helen, played by Danielle Macdonald. Even though Danielle and Jamie shared an appearance in the previous season, as the spotlight moves to the Emerald Isle, a number of new characters emerge.

The primary filming sites were Dublin, County Wicklow, and the Wicklow Mountains. When about his time spent filming in Ireland, Dornan gushed, “It’s incredible.” The actor remarked, “I realised that this is what it’s like to film in Ireland as I was strolling through the trees on our first day of filming in Kilpedder, Wicklow, and it was the heaviest rain I had ever seen.”

I kind of forgot that it had been three or four years since I had shot here, Irish grace. Because the programme was based in Ireland, he claimed he was able to see areas of the country he had never been before. Northern Ireland is where Dornan was born and raised.

And he continued, While part of the shoot was conducted in Wicklow and Dublin, we also made a little diversion to showcase how beautiful Ireland is. Working with an Irish team that has a similar sense of humour has been a delight.

The Tourist season 2

Being able to stage here has been an absolute dream. Originally intended to be a standalone six-part series, The Tourist’s popularity led to requests for a second run. The purposeful setting shift to Ireland in the second season served as a backdrop for a fresh take on the story.

“We loved how it looked and felt, and our director [Chris Sweeney] did such a good job,” said writer and executive producer Jack Williams. It is a new nation and a new narrative, even if we clearly wanted it to share a lot of similarities with that. Williams continued, “Series one was very distinct visually.”

While Ireland is a lush, humid country, it is not at all like the Australian Outback. We’ve been working to find a sensibility that works for the second season and acquiring some big, wide-angle landscape shots in an effort to keep the incredibly cinematic atmosphere of the first season alive.

The Irish backdrop offered Dornan, who also took on the executive producer role for this season, a chance to leverage the attraction that many have with Ireland.

After leaving Ireland 22 years ago, he said, “I’ve been travelling pretty much everywhere, and I find there’s a real intrigue with Ireland.” Everyone seems to be captivated by Ireland, and there seems to be a general affection for both the country and its people.

We hope it will be very appealing since we are showcasing Ireland in a big way, with plenty of Irish talent and some funny Irish individuals.

The father of three also said that he was able to keep his family in Ireland for several months during the show’s filming since he opted to shoot in Ireland rather than Australia. “It was a relief not to have to relocate my whole family again, to be selfish,” he said.
