March 1 is National Horse Protection Day It works to alleviate the suffering of horses. Unfortunately, animal cruelty is still prevalent, and horses have been neglected and abused for decades. Today’s focus is on this significant topic.
National Horse Protection Day was inaugurated in 2005 by Colleen Paige, an expert on pets, animal behaviour, and certified horse enthusiast. Her efforts have advanced the fight against horse cruelty, but there is still a long way to go.
In American culture, horses have always been associated with liberty. There is a certain aura of mystery surrounding horses that exhibit their spirit. The plight of horses has been the subject of numerous films and works of literature, including the 1877 novel “Black Beauty” by Anna Sewell.
It is a tragedy that the symbol of freedom is not itself free. Horses have been mistreated, neglected, malnourished, and even slaughtered for decades. Sadder still is the fact that horses are exceptionally gentle and loyal to their owners. Without horses, numerous historical figures would have been defeated in battle and would not have even had a roof over their heads, as they would not have been able to pull waggons full of supplies or go into battle with men. These exquisite creatures are delicate and harmless to humans, particularly children.
Exactly for this reason is National Horse Protection Day so crucial. Organizations from across the nation advocate for better protection and treatment of horses, in addition to providing shelter and coordinating their rehabilitation. Some programmes allow horses to be adopted after receiving professional care. In order for severely abused or elderly horses to live out the remainder of their lives in peace, sanctuaries are also provided.
