Beth Warford, the founder of Pretty Loaded, related the narrative that inspired the company. It was an incident involving a stalker in which she and her children nearly came under attack. She recalls being unaware of the situation until it was nearly too late and credits a family member with intervening in time. This event made her recognize that many people are oblivious to their surroundings. Thus, we are not immediately aware of any potential threats.

The term’situational awareness’ refers to a practice described in numerous military texts. The concept reportedly appears in Sun Tzu’s “The Art of War.” During the first World War, the practice appeared to be adopted by pilots in particular.
