Superman Day is annually observed on June 12. The purpose of this day is to honour the iconic Kryptonian and the nearly ninety years of narratives he has been a part of. D.C. Entertainment created Superman Day in 2013 in anticipation of the release of “Man of Steel.” The day was originally known as “Man of Steel Day” and was commemorated by comic book retailers, in collaboration with the District of Columbia, by giving away complimentary copies of “All-Star Superman #1 Special Edition.” The continuance of the day in later years and the name change appeared to have occurred naturally.

Jor-El and Lara sent Kal-El to Earth from their home planet in a last-ditch effort to save him from the impending devastation of their planet. Superman has appeared in a variety of media formats over the years, including comic books, newspaper comic strips, animated films, video games, etc. Numerous actors, including Henry Cavill, Bud Collyer, Kirk Alyn, and Brandon Routh, have portrayed and voiced the character.
