The World’s Ugliest Dog Contest is conducted annually as part of the Sonoma-Marin Fair in Petaluma, California, to determine which of the dogs entered is the ugliest. The victor receives a trophy and the title ‘The World’s Ugliest Dog,’ as well as $1,000 in prize money. Since 2017, the prize money has increased to $1,600 and a vacation to New York City has been provided for free.

Throughout the years, numerous canines have competed for the prestigious title of ‘The World’s Ugliest Dog,’ with the Chinese Crested claiming the most victories. At least 22 times since the contest’s inception in the 1970s, the most unattractive dog has been of this breed.
