Mythology behind Chaitra Navratri:
The demon named Mahishasura was a great worshiper of Lord Shiva. Pleased with the devotion of the demon, Lord Shiva granted him a boon not to be killed by any person or deity.
On receiving this blessing, Mahishasura became arrogant and proud. He started terrorizing the people, causing problems for everyone. After spreading terror on earth, he targeted the heaven and scared the gods too.
The gods went to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva and asked them for a solution. Then Tridev created Maa Durga.
After a vigorous game of hide and seek, Mother Durga finally found the demon Mahishasura and killed him. It gave the message of victory of good over evil.
