Disney+ Subscriber Agreement Updates: Password Sharing Restrictions To Be Implemented After 1st November

Canadian members will also notice the introduction of a new ad-supported tier in addition to the new password-sharing limitations

Disney+ Subscriber Agreement Updates: In order to reflect the anticipated Disney+ password restrictions that will be implemented in Canada on November 1st, Disney has amended its Subscriber Agreement.

According to a report from earlier this year, Disney CEO Bob Iger wants to make password sharing illegal by 2024. However, Canadian users in a few European countries are the fortunate markets to test these new limits before they are widely implemented.

Users will soon be unable to share their accounts with anyone outside of their families since the firm aims to impose restrictions that roughly resemble those of Netflix. A “household” is defined by Disney as “the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence” on the updated Subscriber Agreement page. Therefore, only equipment utilised by this family will be allowed to share a single account.

Disney will charge extra fees to add users from outside their family to their account, much like Netflix does. Although the cost of Disney+ has not yet been determined, Canadian Netflix subscribers can access the same content for $7.99 per month. Disney is probably going to repeat the mistakes of their rivals.

Canadian members will also notice the introduction of a new ad-supported tier in addition to the new password-sharing limitations. Users can access material with ad breaks by purchasing a $7.99/month package. The top resolution for this grade is also 1080p. Here is a summary of the future plans as of November 1st.

  • Standard with Ads: This $7.99/month package includes 5.1 and stereo audio, two concurrent streams, and video quality up to Full HD 1080p. Downloads are not supported, though.
  • Standard: Subscribers receive Full HD 1080p video quality, two continuous streams, 5.1 and stereo audio, and the bonus of downloads for $11.99 per month or $119.99 per year.
  • Premium: This plan offers up to 4K UHD & HDR video quality, four concurrent streams, Dolby Atmos audio, and the choice of downloads for $14.99 monthly or $149.99 annually.

Since 2022, the Disney+ tier has been financed by advertisements in the United States.
