Jyeshtha Purnima: Importance in 2023

Jyeshtha Purnima is an important Hindu holiday. As it occurs during Jyeshtha Month, this is one of the most auspicious Purnima Tithis. Jyeshtha, who is considered to be Lord Vishnu, is an elder. Jyeshtha Shreshtha Prajapati is his name. In the form of Trivikrama, the one who has conquered all three realms, he is the paramount Lord of this month. This is the sacrosanct month in which the goddess Ganga descended to earth after performing rigorous penance.

Married women also observe Vat Purnima Vrat on this auspicious day of Jyeshtha Purnima Tithi. On the day of Jyeshtha Purnima, people engage in various religious activities. They tour sacred sites in order to bathe in the Ganga river. Pray to Lord Vishnu and tour temples dedicated to Laxmi Narayan. On this day, Moon is worshipped by offering Arghya to the deity. Some individuals provide sustenance and clothing to both the Brahmins and the destitute. On Jyeshtha Purnima, it is highly auspicious to venerate the Banyan Tree; devotees can offer water to the tree and circumambulate it 108 times.

Rituals

Early in the morning, get up and take a bath in the Ganga river.
Offer supplications to Lord Vishnu Seeking blessings, devotees must worship the Banyan Tree or Askhay Vat.
Due to its immortality, the Banya Tree (Vat Vriksha) is known as Akshya Vat, and it is believed that the Trinity (Lord Shiva, Braham, and Vishnu) resides within it.
Religious activities such as visiting temples, praying to Lord Vishnu, worshipping the moon, and performing Yajna and hawan are regarded as extremely fortunate.
People must offer Brahmins clothing and sustenance in exchange for their blessings.
