Vat Purnima Vrat: Today (June 14), married Hindu women are observing the Vat Savitri Purnima Vrat. On the Purnima Tithi (Full Moon Day) in the month of Jyeshtha, married women in several regions of the country, including Maharashtra, Goa, and Gujarat, observe the holiday. The festival is dedicated to Devi Savitri, who tricked Yamraj (the God of Death) into granting her deceased spouse Satyawan a second chance at life. On this day, women observe a 24-hour fast and venerate the Banyan Tree, under which Devi Savitri sat and prayed for Satyawan. Thus, this day is known as Vat Savitri or Vat Purnima Vrat.
