Shinba explained that she and her companions ordered the restaurant’s signature Alaskan king chilli crab entrée on the recommendation of the waiter. She added that the waiter highlighted the crab as a $20 dish, but failed to clarify that this price was per 100 grams. She asserted that they were not informed of the crab’s complete weight before it was prepared. She also disclosed that they were stunned when the dish arrived. Her group of four received approximately 3,500 grams of the dish, far more than they could consume, and were charged a total of $680.

She then asked the restaurant to contact the police because she had not been informed of the dish’s price beforehand. The restaurant staff stated that they did not overcharge her party and even provided her with a receipt from a customer who ordered a similar dish and paid the full amount. They added that after a lengthy discussion, they gave her a $78 discount out of benevolence, but she was still unwilling to pay. They also disclosed that when the food arrived, the entire party took selfies with it.
