Officials claim that if the train cars had tipped over after leaving the rails, the catastrophe may have been greater. It is expected that those who were harmed will get better.

All 13 members of the crew and passengers were taken off of the train after three of its seven cars deviated from the rails, according to Captain Brian McGrath of the Ventura County Fire Department.

The Amtrak Coast Star Light train derailed near Moorpark, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Los Angeles, while traveling from Los Angeles to Seattle, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.

A little fire under the train was quickly extinguished by the fire service. According to Amtrak, the water truck was “obstructing the tracks” when it was hit by the train at about 11:15 local time (18:15 GMT).

The statement further stated that a thorough investigation into the incident is being carried out. “The train derailed as a result of the impact but remained upright,” it said.
