John Savident, who was best known for playing Fred Elliott on “Coronation Street,” has died at the age of 86.
His involvement with the well-liked ITV serial opera lasted more than 10 years, from 1994 to his character’s moving departure in 2006.
On February 23, John Savident’s agent declared his death, indicating that Savident had died on February 21, 2024.
Along with highlighting his beloved responsibilities as a husband and father, the announcement also highlighted the deep loss his family and friends are feeling.
Savident had a distinct career path, first in law enforcement and then transitioning to acting.
He had prominent parts, including that of Doctor Meredith in “The Remains of the Day” and a cameo in a 1982 “Doctor Who” series.
Notably, he demonstrated his versatility as an actor by being a member of the original cast of “Phantom of the Opera.”
