CPI(M) Candidates List: Kerala Lok Sabha Elections 2024

The Communist Party of India (CPI (M) has announced its initial slate of candidates for the upcoming Kerala general elections in 2024, aiming to reclaim several lost Lok Sabha seats from the previous elections.

CPI(M) Candidates List: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI (M)] announced that it will field its initial slate of candidates in the forthcoming general elections in Kerala in 2024. The Marxist political party has soiled ballots in fifteen of the state’s twenty parliamentary constituencies. It will seek to reclaim several Lok Sabha seats that it lost in the previous elections.

The candidate list comprises both novice and seasoned leaders. Alappuzha sitting member of parliament, A.M. Ariff, has been issued the ticket once more. In addition, former finance minister TM Thomas Isaac and health minister KK Shailaja, who will run from Vadakara and Pathanamthitta, respectively, are notable candidates. Additionally, the party intends to field many former legislators, including Joyce George from Idukki and MV Jayarajan from Kannur.

Lok Sabha Elections in Kerala in 2024: Dates

The Lok Sabha elections are anticipated to take place during the initial six months of 2024, before the conclusion of the current term in May. In the coming weeks, the Kerala unit of the CPI (M) will declare additional candidates for the remaining constituencies. The upcoming year will witness an intensification of campaign activities as soon as the election commission declares the precise schedule. To bolster support, every candidate will conduct roadshows and rallies throughout the state. At this time, it appears that the CPI (M) has selected astute candidates with an eye toward vulnerable seats. It remains to be seen if they can convert this momentum into victories in the upcoming elections in Kerala.

The CPI (M) has disclosed its preliminary electoral strategy for Kerala in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. By combining experienced politicians with fresh personalities, they aim to increase the left’s parliamentary presence and improve the party’s national tally. Despite this, the future is fraught with obstacles due to the possibility of anti-incumbency sentiment and a resurgence of opposition.

As the Kerala unit of the CPI (M), the CPI (M) faces the challenge of capitalizing on previous governance achievements. The electoral landscape may experience intense polarization regarding contentious issues such as Sabarimala. The Kerala elections will generate considerable interest before India’s election season in 2020, regardless of the number of seats declared for CPI(M) candidates. The state’s campaign projection onto the national stage may have a significant impact on national discourse in 2024.
