DeSantis Urges House Cleaning of Federal Agencie

DeSantis Urges House Cleaning of Federal Agencies: Florida’s Republican governor, Ron DeSantis, reiterated his demand for a reform of federal agencies on Monday following the publication of the report by special counsel John Durham.

The research, according to the governor of Florida, “confirmed what we already knew” regarding the “false conspiracy theory” linking the late President Donald Trump to Russia. The material looked into the beginnings and progress of the FBI investigation into possible connections between Russia and Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign.

DeSantis served in the House of Representatives from January 2013 through September 2018 before taking office as governor of Florida in January 2019. While sitting in the House, DeSantis opposed the investigation into any connections between the Trump campaign and Russia. The effort, he said, was a “goose chase” that was unproductive.

“The time wasted on the futile search for evidence of Trump-Russia connection has unnecessarily polarised foreign policy towards Russia. As a result, we are less able to stand up to Russia’s malign influence as a whole.

Following the finding by the House Intelligence Committee that the Trump campaign did not conspire with Russia, DeSantis tweeted:

No collusion, according to the House Intel Committee. The time wasted looking for evidence of Trump-Russia collaboration has unnecessarily politicised foreign policy towards Russia. As a result, we are less able to stand up to Russia’s malign influence as a whole.

In the upcoming weeks, it is largely expected that the governor of Florida will declare his intention to run for president. At the same time, DeSantis has called on federal agencies to purge the House. DeSantis’ chief opponent in the Republican primary if the governor of Florida runs for president would be Donald Trump.

The much anticipated report claims that it was inappropriately begun for the FBI and Justice Department to look into any connections between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Durham came to the conclusion in the report that neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community “appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion in their holdings at the commencement of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation,” based on “the evidence gathered in the multiple exhaustive and expensive investigations of these matters,” including the special counsel’s own investigation.
