Ivan Menezes Cause Of Death: Former Diageo CEO Passes Away At The Age Of 63

Ivan Menezes Cause Of Death: After a brief illness, Ivan Menezes, who was admired for his commitment to diversity and was one of the most prominent global beverage sector executives over the past three decades, passed away. He was 63.

Menezes led Diageo, the parent company of renowned alcoholic beverage brands such as Johnnie Walker, Smirnoff, and Guinness, until just last week. On Wednesday, Diageo confirmed Menezes’ death, just two days after he announced his resignation due to complications from ulcer surgery.

Ivan Menezes Cause Of Death

Menezes had intended to step down as CEO at the end of the month, after having led the company for 10 years and achieving a market value of £75 billion ($93 billion) on the London Stock Exchange. Diageo produces approximately 10% of the food and drink exported from the United Kingdom.

Menezes was born in the Indian metropolis of Pune in 1959. He was a citizen of the United Kingdom, the United States, and the overseas territory of his country of birth. In January, he was knighted on King Charles III’s inaugural New Year’s honours list for his contributions to commerce and equality.

Under his leadership, Diageo has made significant strides in diversifying its leadership, with the company claiming that more than 40 percent of its senior leadership positions are held by women and 37 percent by individuals of diverse ethnic backgrounds.

Mark Kent, chief executive officer of the Scotch Whisky Association, a lobbying group that Menezes also chaired, recalled Menezes as “a warm and caring human being” in addition to “a consummate professional” and “one of the most successful business leaders of his generation.” Menezes’s wife Shibani and their children Nikhil and Rohit will mourn him greatly.
