However, when she doubled over in agony and rushed to the emergency room, they suspected she had kidney stones. Following a CAT scan, doctors detected a malignant tumour on Carol’s kidney.

Given that it was the same size as her kidney, a biopsy was not required. According to reports, the tumour measured four by six centimetres. Fortunately, Carol’s type of kidney cancer had a high survival rate and did not require radiation or chemotherapy.
In fact, she had fought cancer twice. In 1998, while Carol was pregnant with her son Cooper, she was diagnosed with Stage 3 melanoma in her limb.

Update on Carol Kelly’s Health Status
In September 2021, after identifying the tumour, physicians performed surgery to remove Carol’s right kidney. Since then, she has travelled a challenging road to recovery.
Every three weeks, Carol receives Keytruda immunotherapy treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. A few days of exhaustion are among the post-treatment side effects.
The “every-three-week” schedule began in January 2022, and Jerry abhors missing any of it. He is unwaveringly devoted to accompanying her to the doctor. The physicians use scans to monitor her condition every six months.
Regarding Carol’s kidney cancer battle, Jerry and his wife Carol have heard nothing but positive reports from her physicians. The couple meticulously informs her of all scans and bloodwork results. They will need to focus on it every six months until the end of Carol’s life.
