Mr. Cosby was released from prison in 2021 after his conviction for sexual assault was overturned. Ms. Valentino filed the civil complaint in accordance with a California statute that suspends the statute of limitations in sexual assault cases.
In the lawsuit, she claims that after she and her companion ingested the pills offered by Mr. Cosby, he drove them to his nearby office. There, she claims she lost consciousness and was assaulted after regaining consciousness.
According to the filing, she informed Mr Cosby, “I want to go home now” and was “incapable of consent” and “physically helpless.” Ms. Valentino seeks unspecified damages, court costs, and legal fees.
Mr Cosby has been contacted by the BBC for comment. Ms Valentino stated in a statement that the trauma caused by the 85-year-old has affected “not only me, but also my children and grandchildren.”
“By breaking my silence and speaking my truth, I hope this serves as my legacy to my family and demonstrates that hope and healing are possible for those survivors who have yet to find their voices,” she said in a statement shared with US media.
Andrew Wyatt, a representative for Mr Cosby, told US media outlets that Ms Valentino’s claims were “without any proof or facts” and that she had “many inconsistent statements.”

However, his reputation was ruined when dozens of women came forward with allegations of rape, sexual harassment, and sexual misconduct dating back to the 1960s. Mr Cosby has always denied the allegations, asserting that all of his sexual encounters were voluntary.
In 2018, he was convicted of aggravated indecent assault against Andrea Constand in Pennsylvania.
However, the conviction was reversed after the state’s highest court determined that Mr. Cosby should not have been tried because he had reached an agreement with a previous prosecutor in 2005 to not be charged.
In a civil trial in California last year, a jury determined that in 1975, Mr. Cosby sexually assaulted a 16-year-old at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. He was ordered to pay damages of $500,000 (£399,000).
