President to honour 75 exceptional educators with National Teachers’ Award 2023 on Sept 5

In an effort to recognise innovative teaching methods, impactful research, community engagement, and the originality of educational work, the nomination process was conducted online and Jan Bhagidari (public participation) was used to encourage greater participation.

National Teachers’ Award 2023: President Droupadi Murmu will present the prestigious National Teachers’ Award to 75 deserving recipients in 2023 in NEW DELHI. The main award ceremony will take place at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on September 5, 2023, according to a statement issued by the Union Ministry of Education.

National Teachers’ Day is celebrated annually in India on September 5 to honour the birthday of former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The primary objective of the National Teachers’ Award is to pay tribute to the extraordinary contributions made by educators across the nation. It seeks to recognise educators who have not only improved the quality of education but also positively influenced the lives of their students through unwavering commitment.

Each recipient of this prestigious award will receive a certificate of merit, Rs. 50,000 in cash, and a silver medal in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the field of education. According to the official statement, the awardees will also have the opportunity to engage in an interactive session with the Prime Minister.

On Teachers’ Day, the Department of School Education and Literacy, under the Ministry of Education, has organised a national event for many years. This occasion is used to present the National Awards to the nation’s most distinguished educators. The rigorous and open selection process for these awards ensures that only the most deserving candidates are recognised.

This year, the National Teachers’ Award will also recognise teachers from the Department of Higher Education and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This expanded inclusion reflects a commitment to recognise the extraordinary contributions made by teachers in diverse educational sectors. 50 School Teachers, 13 Teachers from Higher Education, and 12 Teachers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will receive awards in 2023.

According to the official statement, the Union Education Minister has assembled three distinct Independent National juries comprised of eminent individuals to meticulously select the most deserving teachers for this prestigious award.
