Sullia, Jul 17: Aramanegaya residents have displayed a banner saying that they will not cast their votes and press the NOTA button on the ballot if a bridge or a hanging bridge is not built across Balnad rivulet at Aramanegaya on Aranthodu-Pindimane Mitthadka-Markanja road in the taluk. Unfortunately, most miscreants have removed the banners.
Aramanegaya is a colony inhabited by people belonging to scheduled tribes. Many families live on either side of the rivulet. For daily work like going to school, buying ration, attending panchayat meets and other works, the villagers have to cross the rivulet. During monsoon, this area turns into an island. Locals have urged administration to build a bridge across the rivulet since many decades.
Gram panchayat had built a temporary wooden bridge that is tied to ropes on either end 20 years ago. Every year, locals put themselves planks of areca nut tree. But now the ropes on either sides have become too weak.
Some miscreants have removed the banner during the night. Now the citizens welfare forum of Adthale and villagers have sought divine intervention to teach a befitting lesson to the removers of the banner as well for the improvement of the road as soon as possible. They offered prayers at Adthale Ullakulu Daivasthana and Goonadka Koragajja daivasthana.
