What’s Open and Closed in San Diego This Thanksgiving: A lot of city and county government offices in San Diego will be closed on Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday. This includes libraries, animal shelters, and vaccine centers.
What’s Open and Closed in San Diego This Thanksgiving?
Every office and business in the city of San Diego will be closed on Thursday. On Friday, some city buildings will also be closed.
The trash collection will happen one day later than normal. Instead of Thursday, it will happen on Friday, and then on Saturday.
From now until Saturday at 9:30 a.m., all city libraries will be closed. Leisure clubs and swimming pools will also be open as usual on Saturday.
The city golf courses, Chollas Lake, Mission Trails Regional Park, and Tecolote Canyon Natural Park will all be open. Mission Bay Golf Course will close at dusk. The Pacific Highlands Ranch Pump Track at 5977 Village Center Loop Road and the city bike parks will also stay open.
For the county, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department will continue to do daily patrols, and animal control will continue to handle emergencies until the holidays. The shelters will be open again on Saturday, and all county offices will be open again on Monday for normal work hours.
Thursday and Friday, most parks and campgrounds will be open during regular work hours. But the following places will not be open:
- The Fallbrook Community Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- The Lakeside Community Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- The Spring Valley Community Center will be closed on Thursday and Friday.
- The gym in Spring Valley is closed from Wednesday to Friday.
— The leisure office at 4S Ranch Sports Park will be closed on Thursday and Friday. The park and ranger office will be open, though.
Thursday and Friday, the county’s park reservation phone line will not be working. However, you can make plans at www.sdparks.org.
On Thursday, bus and trolley services in the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System will mostly run on a Sunday schedule. On Friday, service will go back to its normal weekday plan.
It’s not going to run on Rapid Express Routes 280 or 290, the Sorrento Valley COASTER Connection, or most Express bus routes.
