Who was Daton Viel: On Friday night, a suspect, Daton Viel, fatally shot two police officers in downtown Orlando, severely injuring both of them. The suspect was fatally shot by the SWAT team, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Saturday morning, a SWAT team engaged in a gun battle with the alleged gunman and killed him.

What did Daton Viel do?

Daton Viel’s age was 28. The alleged shooter was slain in a gunfight between members of the SWAT team and him. Due to the incident, the Holiday Inn on Caravan Court, where the suspect, Daton Viel, had barricaded himself in a room, was evacuated at 6 a.m. The situation deteriorated as he refused to surrender despite repeated attempts to persuade him to do so.

The officers were shot and wounded on Friday at 11 p.m. while investigating a vehicle driven by Daton Viel that was connected to a Miami homicide case. According to the Miami-Dade Police Department, Michael Williams was fatally shot and assassinated on July 10 at 1:40 p.m.

Using surveillance footage, the Miami-Dade police were able to locate a vehicle linked to the previous crime, which was subsequently discovered in Orlando on Friday night. The Orlando police department then continued their investigation. Viel allegedly discharged shots at the investigating officers, resulting in a carjacking as he attempted to flee in a different vehicle.

Viel was apprehended earlier this year on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl. He was released on surety.
