William Robert Laughlin, age 16, passed away on Tuesday as a result of injuries sustained in a collision between a vehicle and a motor scooter on Valley Boulevard, between Seventh and Eighth streets. He was the 16-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert V. Laughlin of 1357 Galemont. John Wilbrand, age 16, from Arcadia, sustained minor injuries while operating the scooter.

The truck’s driver from Maywood, Paul Otto Bauman, reported to deputies that the scooter ahead of him had initiated a U-turn on the northbound side of the highway. He asserts that he hurriedly approached the motorcycle and was subsequently unable to avert colliding with it. The Laughlin child was reportedly hurled forty feet down the center of the highway, while the other boy was flung thirty feet, as reported by the police.

Saturday at 1:00 p.m., the funeral services for the unfortunate victim of the traffic collision will take place at Pierce Brothers Mortuary, situated at 345 West Main Street in Alhambra. As the location of interment, Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier has been selected. He will be greatly missed by his parents, two siblings (Pfc. Claude Thomas Laughlin of Randolph Field and Mickey), and grandmother (Mrs. Lillian Cruckshank of Alhambra).

Froggy perished when his driving companion abruptly made a U-turn in front of a truck.
