Witness the Mesmerizing Moment Iceland Volcano Erupts

Witness the Mesmerizing Moment Iceland Volcano Erupts: The Northern Lights were not as bright as a much more dangerous light show in Iceland on Monday night. As expected, a volcano near Grindavik erupted, and cameras were ready to record the moment when the two-mile-long crack opened up and let loose all hell.

Witness the Mesmerizing Moment Iceland Volcano Erupts:

Based on reports from the Icelandic Meteorological Office, the volcano erupted in Iceland on the Reykjanes peninsula around 10 p.m. local time, after an earthquake around 9 p.m.

People who lived in Grindavík and nearby towns had to leave their homes earlier this year because of the imminent threat of a volcanic explosion.

Meteorological Office says that webcams can show the explosion, which is said to be happening near Hagafell, about 2 miles north of the town of Grindavík.
