500 California Stimulus Payment: Soon, a new pilot program will allow a select group of Pomona residents to apply to receive $500 each month for 18 months.

Residents of the Californian city will be able to apply for financial aid from the state as part of the Pomona Household Universal Grants Program, a new program that opens to applicants on Monday.

There will be two groups of 600 applications, and a lottery will choose the 600 winners.

A single cohort of 250 candidates will receive $500 monthly for a maximum of 18 months, or $9,000. The remaining 350 applicants, who were chosen at random, will get $20 a month for 18 months.

The deadline for applications is July 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET and July 8 at 23:00 PT. It started on June 17 and ended on July 9. People who live in Pomona will use the FORWARD online site to send in their applications and any supporting documents.

The process to pick the 600 candidates will start on July 10, 2024. Applications will be looked at from July 10 to August 1. Applicants will be able to make any necessary changes to their papers during this time.

Living in Pomona at the time of application and being at least eighteen

  • Possess parental or guardian status for a kid under four at the time of application;
  • At least one of the following categories applies to you: had negative consequences as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic; their residence is situated in a Qualified Census Tract, they presently receive benefits like Medicaid, MediCal, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, or Federal Pell Grants; or their household income is at or below 65 percent of the Area Median Income.
  • Accept a form requesting informed consent.
