Freedom Summer sales tax exemption: Families and their kids enjoy spending time together throughout the summer, and before long, Florida taxpayers will reap the rewards of cost savings on their recreational pursuits.
Tuesday saw the approval of a sales tax holiday by Governor Ron DeSantis, which will provide families hoping to spend the summer outside some much-needed discounts.
During the Freedom Month Sales Tax Holiday, sales tax will not apply to things like fishing gear, outdoor recreation equipment, museum and state park tickets.
Ron DeSantis further said on Tuesday that all Florida State parks will waive admission prices for Memorial Day weekend.
In defending the choice, the governor declared, “Florida is stepping up to make summer more affordable for families. Florida’s wise budgetary policies enable us to lower taxes and lessen the load on Floridians while the federal government is driving up inflation and family expenses.”

When does Freedom Summer sales tax exemption start?
July will officially see the full application of the Freedom Month Sales Tax Holiday. However, an extension will be sought to promote native Florida culture among the citizens.
The sales tax holiday will also apply to tickets for performances or events taking place between July 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024.
This covers plays, fairs, festivals, ballet recitals, athletic activities, and live music performances.
