How to Check Your Refund Status?

Taxpayer can find out thair entitlement and check thair refund status by using the online tool provided by the Georgia Department of Revenue. The information required to complete this task are Social Security Number (SSN) or Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), and Federal Adjusted Gross Income from the 2023 tax return.

The refund that comes from the surplus is not taxable by Georgia. But it could be treated differently by the IRS. In general, if you take the standard deduction on your federal tax return, the refund is not taxable. Contrarily, if you itemize deductions and deducted state taxes historically, the refund may be viewed as an income source.

With this fourth instalment, Georgia is still turning over refunds to its taxpayers, voice the state’s ongoing budget discipline and commitment to giving surplus money back to taxpayers. Governor Brian Kemp, praising these actions, tracing them directly to a policy of conservative budgeting and an ever-robust state economy.
