Due to the way the calendar falls, some 7 million recipients of SSI, a program for low-income elderly and disabled individuals, will receive an additional check next month.
SSI beneficiaries typically get one payment per month. They will, however, receive two payments in November: one on November 1 and another on November 29.
Since December 1st falls on a Sunday, the second check is actually the payment for December, which was delivered early.
What you can expect:
- People who get SSI will get their November payment on November 1.
- November 1 is also the date that people who get both SSI and Social Security payments will get their checks. This also goes for people who claimed Social Security before May 1997. This check should have arrived on November 3, but since that’s a Sunday, it will be sent out early.
- On Friday, November 29, a second SSI check for the December amount will arrive.
It’s possible that recipients will need to make adjustments to their budget even though the schedule shift won’t lower the total amount of payments made during the year.

The payment schedule remains unchanged for individuals who solely receive Social Security retirement payments.
