The benefit is only available to surviving children who are younger than 18 years old. They must be permanently disabled and unmarried if they are older than 18. If you are between the ages of 18 and 23, you must enroll in a school that has received approval from Veterans Affairs (VA).
If you are incapacitated, your illness must have started before the age of eighteen and keep you from caring for yourself.

Apart from the upper restriction on your net worth, you also need to be single. To marry a veteran after being divorced, your prior marriage had to have terminated before November 1, 1990.
