These activities include caulking, weatherstripping, adding insulation to ceilings, walls, and floors, repairing gaps in the building envelope, installing ductwork, and other similar measures.

Who Qualifies for the Rebate on Weatherization?

To qualify for the Weatherization Rebate, low-income eligibility requirements based on federal poverty guidelines must be met. In addition, certain classes receive preferential treatment:

1) People over the age of 60

2) Families in which at least one member is disabled

3) Families with children aged five or younger

4) You are automatically eligible for weatherization assistance if you receive benefits from SNAP, TANF, Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or certain payments for Means Tested Veteran Programs.

To determine income eligibility, the program establishes annual household income limits before taxes.

2 individuals: $29,580

3 individual$37,290

4 individual$45,000

5 individuals: $52,710

You can register for the Weatherization Rebate by contacting the local subrecipient agency if you believe you qualify. Simply call 1-888-606-8889 toll-free between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. This toll-free number will connect you directly to your county’s WAP service provider. Alternately, you can visit the Help for Texans page of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs, select Weatherization, enter your county of residence, and press “Find Help.”
