Saudi Arabian authorities investigate Cristiano Ronaldo for ‘immoral’ gesture

Cristiano Ronaldo’s gesture to the crowd after his team Al Nassr’s 3-2 victory over Al Shabab has sparked controversy in Saudi Arabia, prompting the relevant authorities to consider sanctioning him.

According to sources in the Arab country, CR7, who scored a goal for his team, was “harassed” by fans of the rival team for long periods of the match with cries of “Messi, Messi”, so he exploded and went to the stands with an “immoral” gesture.

Several sources within the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) were consulted by the local media outlet, Asharq Al-Awsat, in order to analyze the incident.

“The Disciplinary Committee began opening an investigation into the ‘immoral gesture’ made by Al Nassr star Cristiano Ronaldo in front of Al-Shabab fans, which caused resentment among many spectators and attendees,” the media outlet said.

“According to sources, the Disciplinary Commission will immediately study the situation captured on videos during the end of the match, and the decision will be issued in the next two days,” it added.

CR7 has been the target of such chants in numerous matches during the current Arab league season despite being the leading scorer with 22 goals, three ahead of his closest competitor, Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic.
